Applying chemometrics to predict metallurgical niobium recovery in weathered ore

Niobium metallurgical recovery measures how much of the metal content in the ore is separated in the concentrate after the mineral processing stages. This information can be obtained through laboratory tests with ore samples obtained during drilling. Thereunto, representative ore samples are subjected to tests mimicking the ore concentration processing flow, but these experiments are time consuming and costly. The main objective of this study was to develop a more efficient way to obtain the metallurgical recovery information from ore samples. Based on the development of chemometrical studies, the chemical components currently analyzed in the ore with correlation to the metallurgical recovery were identified. These correlated variables were used to build a nonlinear multivariate regression model to explain the response variable, i.e. metallurgical recovery. The Principal Component Analysis was used in this work to define which chemical variables contribute most to explain the metallurgical recovery phenomenon. The Second order regression equation (Response Surface) was the most suitable methodology to explain the metallurgical niobium recovery and was created by the interaction of the five most important chemical variables. After the exclusion of outliers, the linear regression coefficient between the metallurgical recovery calculated and the metallurgical recovery analyzed was 82.59%. The use of the second order regression equation contributes to reduce the amount of experimental analysis to assess the geometallurgical niobium ore response, promoting the reduction of costs for metallurgical characterization of the ore samples. Field parametric geostatistics : an alternative to tackle gold grade estimations

High anomalous grades are very common in gold deposits, whose presence requires careful treatment to prevent overestimation of metal content. Mineral resource analysts have worked on the estimation of several gold deposits, and none of the classical methods were able to avoid manual interventions, such as cutting high grades for local estimation or using more information beyond the data for the variogram inference. The Field Parametric Geostatistics (FPG) is presented as an alternative for the application of linear kriging methods to estimate highly skewed distributions, proposing a mathematical model which incorporates the grades and its representativeness into a new variable, reducing the influence of high grades without empirical manual interventions. In this article, the mathematical formulation of the FPG theory is presented, as well as its application in datasets with outliers and high skewed distributions: the Walker Lake dataset and the Amapari gold deposit. The results are compared to results obtained by the application of standard techniques, demonstrating that FPG is a feasible alternative to estimate local grades and local reserves for highly skewed variables

Treinamento admissional de operario : uma aplicaçao na plataforma de moodle em canteiro de obra

Este foi entregue por meio do software de código aberto e nome: Moodle – um Sistema de Gerenciamento de Cursos (SGC) que permite a Educação a Distancia (EaD), via Internet. Avaliou-se durante o curso quais os desafios, limitações e a aceitação do Moodle pelos operários da construção civil. A validação ocorreu num canteiro de obras na cidade de Curitiba-PR, onde 10 (dez) operários, divididos em duplas aleatórias participaram do curso. O treinamento consistiu em 7 (sete) vídeos, com em media dois minutos cada um, seguido de uma avaliação composta por cinco questões do tipo múltipla escolha. Após uma breve explanação, os trabalhadores foram convidados a prosseguir com o treinamento ate o seu fim em seções que duravam cerca de 30 minutos. Observou-se que 70% dos trabalhadores nunca utilizaram um computador anteriormente e 60% tinham ate a 4a série do ensino fundamental. Ressaltaram a necessidade de outros treinamentos que contemplassem matérias técnicas e a matemática. Concluiu-se, então, que o curso na modalidade a distância proposto se mostrou eficiente e atrativa aos olhos de seu publico-alvo. Observou-se que este publico, embora seja considerado analfabeto digital manifestou grande vontade de aprender. Como sugestões propostas para trabalhos futuros ficam: o uso do monitor sensível ao toque; a abordagem de tópicos técnicos como ferramentas e procedimentos, bem como ada matemática; e o uso de navegadores alternativos ao Microsoft Internet Explorer® que propiciem uma interface ainda mais simples e amigável

Pesquisa e Metodologia em Michel Foucault

This is a study about Foucault’s theoretical and methodological contributions, highlighting the use of classicalmethodological elements. The paper is organized in three analytical axes: the examination of fragments of Foucault’s works;associations between his perspectives and the contemporary literature on qualitative research; and the analysis of texts in whichhis methodological choices are expressed. Foucault’s option of studying problems from their “most singular and concrete forms”is pointed out. The design of his last project, which is simultaneously classic and innovative, is explored, with highlight tohis detailed methodological choices. The construction of relevant research problems associated with his detailed and accurateway of working is considered to have contributed to the profound impact of his work.Estuda-secontribuições teórico-metodológicas de Foucault, realçando seu uso de elementosmetodológicos clássicos. Foucault, governamentalidade neoliberal e subjetivação

This article aims to understand Foucault's theoretical and political positions, which were built from 1978 on, with the establishment of governmentality and subjectivity notions as an axis of his researches. It discusses historical aspects that are related to his theoretical shift into government's subject, biographical sources, and author texts, which were published between 1978 and 1980. Second, it analyzes an interview about the crisis of the social security system, seeking to understand his position about the issue. It concludes that Foucault used both Marxist and neoliberal contributions, avoiding to reduce politics into a confrontation between the two projects, but considering it as a complex field of plural strategies. The subjectivity places at the interface between politics and ethics.O artigo visa compreender as posições teórico-políticas de Foucault construídas a partir de 1978, com o estabelecimento das noções de governamentalidade e subjetividade como eixos de suas pesquisas. Discute-se aspectos histórico-institucionais relacionados ao seu deslocamento teórico na direção do tema do governo e seu afastamento da esquerda, fontes biográficas e textos do autor publicados entre 1978 e 1980. Em segundo lugar, analisa-se uma entrevista sobre a crise do sistema de seguridade social, buscando entender seu posicionamento em relação ao tema. Conclui-se que Foucault utilizou tanto de contribuições marxistas, quanto neoliberais, evitando reduzir a política ao enfrentamento entre dois projetos, mas considerando-a um campo complexo de estratégias plurais.
